Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has explained why his team defeated Manchester City 1-0 in the Premier League on Saturday.

Callum Hudson-Odoiโ€™s 83rd-minute goal secured all three points for Nottingham Forest against Pep Guardiolaโ€™s side at City Ground.

The result ensured Forest maintained third position in the Premier League table with 51 points.

Santoโ€™s side is now four points ahead of fourth-placed Manchester City.

Speaking in his post-match interview, Santo said his players worked hard in defense against Man City and capitalized on their chances against the Premier League champions.

โ€œIt was a tough game. Everybody saw how good Manchester City areโ€”they had us on the ropes, but the boys worked very hard,โ€ Santo said.

โ€œOf course, they were going to have chances, but it was then about us taking ours.

โ€œ[Beating City] shows the progress, but there is so much football still to be played. Letโ€™s focus on the journey and move on to the next one.โ€
