Popular Nigerian chess player, Tunde Onakoya, has revealed why he turned down a huge amount of money that could have changed his life.

The founder of Chess In Slums, in a post on X, explained that he turned down the offer not because it was totally wrong but because it didnโ€™t align with his values and vision.

While speaking about what he described as a tough decision, Onakoya stated that it is important for him to prioritise integrity over wealth.

The 30-year-old wrote, โ€œI recently turned down life changing money. Not because it was exactly wrong, but it did not align with my values or the vision of who Iโ€™m becoming.โ€ It was not an easy decision.

I wrestled, and tried to justify saying yes, but in the end, integrity is the real wealth. I feel liberated by my decision.

I can do anything now.โ€œAnyway, Iโ€™m forever grateful to @OgaBoxx for helping me navigate this new chaos with so much grace and wisdom.โ€
